Salary Range:
£44,500.00 - £55,000.00
This will be dependant on qualifications and exam progress.
Your Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a nearly- or fully-qualified ACA or ACCA accountant to join our Assurance (Audit) team as a Senior in our rapidly growing Charities and Not for Profit Sector. This role is designed for someone who is motivated to assist our clients who are in the charitable sector. Experience in Academies will be a bonus.
How You Will Make a Difference
You will lead audit assignments, collaborate with clients to understand their financial position and help lead a team on these assignments.
You Will:
- Carry out audit and independent examination assignments and be responsible for every aspect of the file, from planning to completion.
- Prepare accounts for our charity and not-for-profit clients in compliance with the Charities SORP, FRS 102 and the Companies Act.
- Manage a team of juniors/semi-seniors, being accountable for their work and providing constructive feedback as you support them through their accountancy qualification.
- Work closely with managers and partners, assisting them with submitting final (audited) accounts and charity tax returns within reporting and client deadlines.
- Attend finalisation meetings with clients to support managers and partners in presenting the team’s findings.
- Build relationships with clients on and offsite as a representative of BKL
- Lead and mentor junior team members.
- Stay abreast of changes to Auditing Standards and charity law standards, as well as changes to UK GAAP and the Charity SORP, incorporating new practices into audit strategies.
You Will Be Ideal for This Role If…
- You have experience in the preparation of statutory accounts prepared in compliance with UK GAAP and the Charity SORP
- You are a qualified accountant in practice and have direct experience with charity audits.
- You have completed or are about to complete a professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or equivalent).
- You are technically competent across all areas of the audit file.
- Have strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
- Are passionate about supporting charitable organisations.
